On page 7 of this thread, Simon offered the following two possibilities for AAWA not wanting to further indulge the identity of the guilty party:
a) It genuinely was a 3rd party who maliciously setup a copy-cat group, stole your identity (name and logo) and outed people. Yet despite all of this you continue to protect their identity and they get away with no hint of doubt over their character, free to harm other people in future. Way to help the community !!
b) It wasn't a 3rd party at all which would be another reason for you to be so adamant not to name the person involved (previous claims etc...)
Per fizzywiglet’s post, along with several other corroborations, we now know that the correct answer is (b). Since we are seemingly not allowed to expose her name in this forum, I am forced to use ‘her’ or ‘she’.
So… (to borrow the phrasing of the illustrious AAWA President), to re-cap:
An AAWA representative/coordinator (not sure in what capacity she serves) added people into the group’s Facebook page without permission. When confronted by a user who was outed, she said something to the effect of it would be too much work to invite people to join one by one.
This person (she) has been involved with AAWA months before the official launch and well into the planning and embryonic stages. She was/is closely involved with the AAWA president since she was contacting people on his behalf in making the YouTube launch video, and evidently played some role in the production of the video itself. Though she is not a listed member of the advisory board, the very fact that she was involved before there even was a group lends credence to the fact that she was/is an official AAWA representative and coordinator.
So this was not just a random volunteer who got overexcited and started adding people to the Facebook group, as we first were led to believe. This is someone who had the AAWA’s official sanction in her representative/coordinator work. By failing to acknowledge her name or even existence, the president has left a few open questions.
Did the AAWA sanction what she did at the time? Did they know what she was doing and approved? Did they at first give her the go-ahead, and then pulled support once this situation became evident? Or did they have no clue as to what she was doing at all and only found out about it after the fact?
These are all reasonable questions to ask, which unfortunately have not been answered. The next logical step would be to detail what steps were or are going to be made to rectify the situation with their representative (she). Perhaps a statement from the offending party? Even an acknowledgement that a person affiliated with their group did indeed add people on Facebook to their group and as a consequence, outing people as apostates who were until now not looked upon as such?
The name has been outed. You know who we are talking about.
To borrow another line from the AAWA president:
We await your response.

Which is ironic considering he just said...
I can play this game all night if you insist.
(Which I think says a lot about Cedar's approach to this. Just another forum debate.)
Now now. He's probably busy handing out volunteer assignments, answering his emails, or working on his 'book'.

According to Juan's post on page 2:
Then I noticed as I scanned through the names that one person in particular seemed to be referring the majority of these unknowns. At that point I brought my concerns to the attention of the other advisors and the officers of AAWA. Their first reaction was that this was not necessarily a bad thing.
Notice that he freely admitted that even he (Juan) had expressed his concerns about people being outed. He makes it perfectly clear that the board at AWAA was delighted at this and thought that it wasn't a bad thing. The publicity for the group clearly overrode any concern for any damage this might cause others.
At that point Bo had to make a decision about what to do with our Facebook page and we all agreed to let him just go ahead and make it "open to all."
Now we have an admission that this was indeed now an 'open' group. Not 'closed', not 'secret', but 'open'.
It was only after we took that step and the whole affair became news here on JWN that we started getting complaints that some of those people who had been "referred" or "recommended" to the site were unhappy that someone had done that without their knowledge.
It was only after the group had been created 'open' that this blew up into a PR mess for the AWAA. It's still not clear what happened afterwards, but it became only closed or secret after it was once 'open'. It might be secret now, but it was open before and that's what all this fuss is about.
For what it is worth, I think Juan is the only one here that is giving us any clear and honest answers, and he deserves to be commended for that. The same can not be said concerning the behaviour of others involved in this.

Per request via PM, fuzzywiglet would still like a direct answer to these points on page 6:
2) Even if it couldn't/shouldn't show up, it's unethical to force-add people. Your coordinator DID force-add people, she force-added a LOT of people, and it's become clear over the past several days that a huge chunk of those people had no idea they were force-added, were not notified by Facebook or did not see the notification, and are still members. Now that you are aware they were added without permission, you don't get to presume that they want to be a member unless they figure it out.
3) Since someone force-added 1,000 people, and now you're trying to say they could have been referred from other ex-JW FB groups, who's to say they didn't force-add people masquerading as ex-JWs, who they believed to be ex-JWs? We already know there are JWs who do that, start a mole FB account, join ex-JW FB boards, and collect apostate names, and then publish them on sites like "Apostate Watchdog". Now they're very possibly inside your "secret" group, and they can see names of 1,000 people who did not necessarily consent to having their name affiliated with that group. If an "out" ex-JW makes an informed decision to put their name on your group, secret or not, that is one thing. But it is not your place to decide that for them.

My suggestion is to start a new thread that directly appeals to the AAWA directors and have people voice their support (or non-support) for bringing the FB group down immediately.

Yeah, it's sort of like joining a group on Facebook with "Anti-Watchtower" and "Activists" in the title. They will read no further.

Is There Other Sites Many Members Are Bailing To? M.I.A JWN People, where did they go?
by ÁrbolesdeArabia insince i joined the forum i noticed more than a few people have not been posting, what is going on?
i received a couple of emails from other groups asking me to join their new forms with a promised technology, i wondered how they got my email address and thought it be strange.. .
people during the first year of a great change might post daily to any support chat or message board they feel is going to aid them.

You should feel happy for such people. Maybe they found a new boyfriend/girlfriend and the relationship is going somewhere. Perhaps they started a family or are busy raising one. That wouldn't leave much time for JWN.

People aren't that stupid, JWs included. The minute you start posting items that are not in line with WT doctrine, their 'apostate light' goes on and they will disregard and quickly exit. It's like throwing in amended pages in Watchtowers and leaving them at Assembly Halls. That thing goes directly into the trash once the ruse is up.
